The brief
It isn't every week an international yacht management company asks you to contribute to a multi-million dollar refurbishment. So imagine my surprise when two completely different global companies approached me within the same week.
Both superyachts were worth over a hundred million dollars, with one undergoing a seventy million dollar refit. Every piece I made had to live up to that.
Two very different briefs
Grand orchids for the US. Fifty pieces for Greece.
The first company, based in the US, needed a series of large, grand orchid displays designed, crafted and installed on one of the yachts under their management.
The second, based in Greece, needed almost fifty bespoke arrangements in every style and size. With so many pieces, the project had to be meticulously organised from day one, so one of their representatives flew over from Greece to plan it with me.
Against the clock
A deadline that would make most people wince.
The Greek yacht was due to be sold shortly after its renovation, so the time to design and make every piece was very tight. It took a lot of graft, flexibility and quick thinking.
Both projects reached their destinations, Fort Lauderdale and Athens, on schedule. Because of the nature of these clients, strict exclusivity was in place, and naturally I respected it. Every piece was original to them.
