What came next
Phase two, next door
"The restaurant was absolutely stunning. I really wanted a wow factor. No pressure, then."
The brief
The owner of The Indian Tavern, who I now know as H, asked me to install flower walls, mossed walls and ceiling florals at his restaurant on The Waterfront. It was just 12 to 15 miles from home, rather than the usual hundred or so.
We met on site to talk through ideas, budgets and colour schemes, and to add my own thoughts into the mix.

Inspired by India
Flowers native to India, in every detail.
H wanted a flower wall around his main TV area, moss on the columns around the smaller screens and hanging florals to complement them. He asked me to use flowers native to India, in keeping with the restaurant's decor.
We worked alongside the other trades on site and still made our mark in good time.

The finishing touch
Thank goodness for bark.
The management didn't want the flower wall to run to the floor, which left it stopping halfway with nothing beneath. It looked unfinished, and I won't put my name to anything unfinished.
So I sourced a neat mix of bark and moss and fixed it firmly beneath the main installation. It finishes the whole piece beautifully.
The result
"The owners were thrilled, so much so that I've been asked to complete phase two in the property next door."Sharon Demmery
